Update Straw Bale Building Workshop
Hurray!! We are excited to announce that a workshop will be held in Albuquerque in early to mid-December, 2008 .
Since this is an inexact science—and we are always at the mercy somewhat of Old Man Weather—we cannot know until it draws closer what the exact date of this workshop can be. At this writing, though, it should be completed long before holiday mania is in full tilt! This is actually the perfect time to be able to learn the techniques and details involved with this great building technique—master it just in time for breaking ground on your own home in the spring or summer!! What a great gift for the holidays!!
The December workshop is planned for participation covering a full weekend—8:00am-5:00 pm both Saturday and Sunday, allowing for flexibility with the size of the project, weather and other variables. Get a good night’s sleep and eat your Wheaties for breakfast! We provide a hot lunch and hydration both days. You may want to layer your garments to accommodate fluctuations in the weather. Bring a camera if you want the proof when you brag to everyone about your part in building this beautiful home. The cost for a workshop is $45 per person, $80 for couples, payable in advance.
Please do let us know if you are planning on attending. We suggest you reserve a spot by mailing a check as soon as possible since there were many folks just itching to stack straw after this year’s New Mexico State Fair—and the number of participants is limited. We are expecting the slots to fill fast since it is being held in a location easily accessible and convenient for many people. We will notify participants as to the exact workshop weekend as soon as it can be ascertained. |
